Pair Up!

Get paired up with a random person at your skill level to hack on a project for 2.5 hours! Build a project, make a new friend, practice your skills, and gain some new ones. Depending on your skill levels, you'll build a project of your own, or something from our list of ideas.

Do not need to bring a computer with you to this workshop. We will be using the Dev Bootcamp pairing stations! TAs and instructors will be able to help with questions.

Breakfast will be provided. This event is free to make it accessible and easier for members to attend, but we only have enough pairing stations for 40 people (20 teams).  Because of the strict capacity limit for this event, please only RSVP if you are actually attending. If you are unable to attend, adjust your RSVP to free up space for someone who can!

Group levels

You are required to provide your group level when your RSVP.

Level 1 - HTML/CSS: requires knowledge of HTML tag syntax, basic HTML tags, CSS properties, and CSS selectors (familiarity is ok, you don't need to be an expert!)

Level 2 - Basic JavaScript: requires familiarity with everything listed in Level 1, plus JavaScript variables, arrays, functions, conditionals, and for loops.

Level 3 - Advanced JavaScript: familiarity with everything listed in Levels 1 and 2, plus jQuery, AJAX, and JSON.

10:00 am: Doors Open!

Register and get a sticker for your level. Grab breakfast and say hello.

10:30 am: Event starts!

Decide what project to work on, using our recommended list or by brainstorming ideas with your partner. Hack on your projects together until 1.

1:00 pm: Event ends.

2 words... Totally Awesome!!! I am new to the world of web development and my partner Lorena (who was also a TA) was a great teacher and gave me the opportunity to figure things out on my own (which is how I learn best). I feel like a techie!!! ;-). Okay more than two words...

As long as it's not more than about 30 mins, that should be fine!

If you'd like to attend this event as a TA instead of a participant, send me a message through Meetup.
