Development for Designers (Intermediate Level)

Details
IMPORTANT: This class is NOT for beginners, this is an intermediate-level course - previous HTML/CSS experience is required.
If you are concerned that your HTML/CSS skills won’t be deep enough for this course, we recommend taking our HTML/CSS Refresher Workshop (https://www.meetup.com/Girl-Develop-It-Cincinnati/events/198921382/) on August 12th to re-familiarize yourself with the concepts necessary for Dev for Designers.
**********
Are you a designer that wants to know how to take your websites to the next level? Have you been wondering how to make your website responsive? Do you like the sound of being able to create your own framework that you can use on multiple projects? If you’ve taken our Intro to HTML/CSS class or have a basic working knowledge of HTML and CSS, then this class is for you!
During this class, we will guide you through the process of creating a grid out of a wireframe, applying your design to your website and making that design responsive to phones, tablets and desktops.
Class 1: Design Process - Wednesday, August 20th, 7-9pm
Class 2: Applying Design to Web - Tuesday, August 26th, 7-9pm (Please note that Class 2 takes place on TUESDAY for this session!)
Class 3: Grid Layouts - Wednesday, September 3rd, 7-9pm
Class 4: Responsive Design - Wednesday, September 10th, 7-9pm
The course will be instructed by Eric Boggs with teaching assistance from John David Back, Becky Sroufe & Catherine Rust, and facilitated by Becky Singson & Becky Sroufe.
At this time, you will need to provide your own laptop - PC or Mac - to participate in the course.
We also recommend that you have the following available on your computer before class:
• Photoshop or a similar image editing tool
• Sublime Text 3 (http://www.sublimetext.com/3) - the preferred text editor
• Also, as an alternative to Internet Explorer, please install either Chrome, Safari, or Firefox + Firebug (http://getfirebug.com/).
Instructor: Eric Boggs is a web developer for Rockfish. He spends most of his time developing user interfaces and thinking about how people interact with websites. He is a Marine Corps veteran and is a co-founder of A Voice for the Innocent (http://www.avoicefortheinnocent.org/), a local non-profit. When he's not working, you can find him growing out his beard and hanging out with his wife and dog.
