With 20% of the web running on WordPress, it's no surprise that we're WordPress fans!
Join Girl Develop It for an introductory look into all things WordPress. We will show you the basics of creating a WordPress website, then customizing it to fit your needs. We'll learn about Themes, Plugins and Widgets and how to spot a good or bad one. We will publish posts and learn about the types of content we can publish. Most importantly, our instructors and TA's will be here to answer any questions you may have along the way. You'll leave with an understanding of the basics and an ability to publish your own WordPress site.
Note: You do not need to have an existing WordPress site in order to attend.
Minimum enrollment is 10 students.
Snacks & drinks will be provided by Atomic Object.
INSTRUCTORS:
Laura Eagin is a cheerleader for do-it-yourself-ers: Go lady developers! Laura is a graduate of Purdue University and the Savannah College of Art and Design. Today she is a freelance designer specializing in WordPress web development. She works primarily for startup businesses and retail clients.
Leeann Drees is GDI Detroit's community manager & a freelance developer specializing in WordPress customization. She loves writing code & watching it work, as well as anything that empowers & encourages women -- so GDI is a perfect fit!

PARKING:
There are several flat-fee private parking lots available across from the office on Randolph St. Metered street parking is available on Randolph and adjacent streets. Additional parking is available one block away at the Detroit Opera House parking structure.
WHAT TO BRING:
Please bring your laptop and charger to all class sessions. Power strips & Wi-Fi will be provided.
