Intro to JavaScript (2-Day Workshop)

Session #1: Saturday, February 22 @ 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Session #2: Sunday, February 23 @ 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Snacks and drinks will be provided on both nights.

JavaScript is a the language of interactivity on the web. Ever used Google Maps? Clicked on something to make it appear or hide? Seen a slideshow of images? You've used JavaScript!

You'll begin learning to develop interactive websites in this introductory course. We will be covering basic JavaScript and jQuery, as well as dynamic HTML, JSON and APIs. (If you don't know what any of those acronyms mean, don't worry... this is the class for you!)

You should have a working knowledge of HTML prior to taking this course.

The course will be taught by Alan Languirand.

Hi Erika I thought the open positions were given in the order of the waiting list. What is the process to get an open position so I will know for future events?

  • Jo

I am waiting eagerly for a spot to open. Don't want to miss this event.

Really wish I could make this event, but I have to work. If you have another on a weekend I am free, I will definitely be there. Thanks.

Man! I really wish I afford to go...

Hi Denetrua! So sorry I missed this message. We typically send out scholarship notifications a week before class, and for those who didn't get one this time around, we encourage them to apply for the next one. Hopefully we can see you soon... in class or at Code & Coffee. :-)

I signed up for the scholarship, too and haven't heard anything, either.

sorry to hear. I didn't get it either. Maybe they'll do the class again. Good Luck

Oh no! Hi Maureen - so sorry, please let me know if you did not receive an email regarding scholarships. We do our best to send these a week before class. Unfortunately we get lots more applications than scholarships to award. Hopefully we can offer more scholarships per class in the future, because we'd love to see everyone who wants to learn, be able to attend a class. :-)

What does a working knowledge of HTML mean? I have a basic introductory understanding of HTML. Can I enrolled into this course? And is there some specific software or laptop that we need to get before we RSVP?

    January 15, 2014

    • Alan L.

If you've taken the GDI intro to HTML and CSS class you'll be in a good place. You don't need any special software for the class - use whatever you use for HTML and CSS editing.

I didn't take the GDI course in HTML and CSS, but I'm familiar with them because I studied it on my own. I hope that will make me prepare to take this course. I began to study Java already, so I hope I'm prepared.

I am planning on attending and look forward to it. Have to wait till Friday to RSVP. Desperate need to learn JavaScript and jQuery. Can't wait!
