Python 101

Python powers some of the most popular websites and apps such as Pinterest, Instagram and Rdio and is being used by tech companies here in LA and around the world!
This course is designed for the absolute beginner so no need to feel intimidated. The first day will cover concepts such as data types, functions, conditional statements and loops. Problems will be worked through and projects created along the way. The second day we will work with the Python interactive shell, functions/loops/conditionals, data structures and object oriented and functional programming.
This class meets for four sessions:
September 13th, 10am-12pm
September 20th, 10am-12pm
September 27th, 10am-12pm
October 4th, 10am-12pm
Please plan to attend all four sessions. All sessions are covered for the $90 class fee.

Prerequisites
Knowledge of basic HTML and CSS are helpful, but not strictly necessary. This class is suitable for beginners.

What to bring
Please bring a laptop* and charger to class. Power outlets and wifi will be provided. You may also wish to bring a notepad and pen/pencil for taking notes.

In Kyle’s diverse professional software development roles, he has worked with many user-interactive web(front-end) technologies, and data storage/server (backend) technologies. The diversity of these projects given him literacy in a wide range of software languages including Python, Django, Ruby, Javascript, HTML, and CSS.
Currently, Kyle works as a web developer for Chai Energy (http://www.chaienergy.com/), a company that helps people save money on their energy bill while promoting energy conservation. In his role as part of the core software team, he architects and implements the current API, encourages a test driven development environment, and makes fresh sourdough and sauerkraut.
