Ever wanted to learn how to program, but don't know where to start?
Join the ladies of the GDI Ottawa community for our special kickoff event! Meet the ladies inspired to create a stronger female tech community in Ottawa and hear more about the upcoming workshops we'll be offering.
In this special workshop, you'll get an overview of what programming is all about, and get the hands-on experience of building an interactive game with Scratch programming. This kickoff event is free, and all ages are welcome (children included).
All attendees must bring their own laptop and power cord! :)
We'll make sure everyone has enough time to set up during the event. But if you want to get a head-start, you can download the software and start hacking away at the tutorials from: http://info.scratch.mit.edu/Scratch_1.4_Dow...
Following the workshop, we'll also be heading out for dinner and drinks close by (optional, but everyone is encouraged and welcome to join). Dinner location, to be announced.
Note: Men, you are welcome to come if you find a woman attendee that will bring you as a guest.
Maybe we'll be able to rerun this workshop someday, but in the meantime there are other courses in the works! You can also read about this workshop and download the slides if you want to give Scratch a try yourself: http://girldevelopitottawa.tumblr.com/![]()
