Machine learning is a technique to teach computers to use information (or data) to solve complex problems quickly. It has exploded in popularity in recent years and is at the heart of many of your favorite web and mobile applications.

In this class, we will orient you to world of machine learning, help you identify problems well-suited for these approaches, and give you hands-on experience with basic machine learning tools.

What this class will cover:

• What is machine learning?

• How are people & companies using it right now?

• How can machine learning help you?

• How to get started with simple examples

Prerequisites: Students should understand functions and how to use them, basic command line tools, and basic programming in Python.

Software needed:

• A Wakari (https://www.wakari.io/wakari) account

• An internet connection

We will be using Wakari (https://www.wakari.io/wakari) to run everything in a web browser, eliminating the need to configure your computer.
