Beyond the Basics of HTML/CSS

Details
This class runs on Sat, Sept 6 and Sun, Sept 7 from 12:45pm to 5pm. The cost covers both days.
You took Intro to HTML/CSS, and learned a great foundation...now what? In this class, we'll be building a single-page website with all the new hotness: HTML5 for semantical structure and CSS3 for sweet visual flourishes like gradients, rounded corners, and drop shadows. The latest CSS specification provides advanced selectors, graphical enhancements, and better font support that make our sites more visually appealing without using font image replacement techniques, complex JavaScript, or graphics tools.
We'll also try out some more advanced techniques, like CSS animations and responsive design, and we'll talk about some flashy HTML5 features that do require JavaScript.
To get the most out of this class, you should have a working knowledge of basic HTML and CSS. You may have taken Intro to HTML through Girl Develop It, or maybe you have built a site for fun.
To help you gauge whether or not this class is a good fit given your current skill set, you must take this mandatory quiz (http://elitepeers.com/gdi/html5css3/quiz.html). You will be asked to enter your confirmation score when you register via Meetup. A review will be provided before we start the new material and you can view the material from our class on our website (http://girldevelopit.com/materials) (look under the "Intermediate HTML"). If you have additional questions, feel free to post them below.
Tech Requirements:
-A new laptop bought within the last 3 years. Note: a netbook or tablet is NOT a substitute!
-Google Chrome (https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/browser/) (or Firefox is ok)
-A text editor. We recommend Sublime Text 3 (http://www.sublimetext.com/2) (It's free and available for both Mac and PC).
