JavaScript for Beginners

Details
Javascript is a language that all good web developers must know as it is the primary way to do client side web development. It can be thought of as an extension to HTML which allows developers to incorporate more functionality in their web pages (such as an expandable menu).
Many programming courses end up glossing over some of the tricky words -- 'variable', 'object', 'method' -- this course is especially designed for beginners new to programming concepts, so you'll learn to program with JavaScript. If those words are confusing to you now, no worries! You're exactly who we want to teach.
In this class, we will be covering basic development elements, Javascript, dynamic HTML, and we will touch on the jQuery library. Students will exit this class with a good grasp of basic programming principles and the knowledge of how to manipulate HTML elements. The course runs from 9:45am to 3pm on Saturday and Sunday with a one-hour lunch break provided each day (Note: We have a fridge and microwave if you would like to bring your own lunch).
We suggest having a working knowledge of HTML as a pre-requisite for this course. This course is specifically for beginners and we highly advise experienced developers to not take this class.
About the teacher:
http://photos4.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/e/3/5/0/event_84898192.jpegPam Selle decided to work in technology when she realized it's the place where people can create things, share them with each other, and make things better. She began teaching others about technology by introducing seniors to web browsers, and is now happy to share her love of web programming with the members of Girl Develop It, as an instructor for the WordPress 101 course and the Javascript/JQuery courses. In her spare time, she enjoys yoga, rides her bicycle, and is involved with the Girl Geek Dinner Organizing Committee. You can find her on Twitter at @pamasaur (http://twitter.com/pamasaur).
