Intro to HTML & CSS

This 4 part Intro to HTML/CSS course runs on Tuesday evenings: January 14th, January 21st, January 28th and February 4th. The class times go from 7:00pm to 9:00pm each evening.

Want to learn how to build your own website? Already have your own Tumblr/WordPress/etc site, but want to have more control over it? Interested in learning to program but want to start small? This class is for you!

We will guide you through the basics of HTML and CSS, give you some readily-applicable skills, and answer any questions you may have along the way.

Your Teacher: Autumn Welles, Front End Developer at Coalmarch

Autumn is a self-taught front-end developer. She takes designs and turns them into reality using HTML, CSS, Javascript, and whatever templating languages are handy. She began coding at the ripe age of thirteen and simply couldn't help but be awed by the process of creating something from nothing.

When not in front of a computer, Autumn can be found teaching her dog new tricks, drinking local beer, or enjoying the outdoors. She also enjoys watching 90's TV shows while crocheting when the weather is chilly. In the past, she has volunteered on farms from Washington state to Arizona and driven all across the United States (a few times over).

Tech Requirements:

Your laptop. Note: A netbook or tablet is NOT a substitute.

A modern browser with either Chrome and the "Web Developer" extension or Firefox and Firebug installed.

A text editor. We recommend Sublime Text 2 (It's free and available for both Mac and PC).

You can take a sneak peak at the slides here:http://www.girldevelopit.com/materials. Look for the HTML and CSS core curriculum.

If you have any questions prior to registering, please contact us at [masked]

Refund Policy: Your payment of $80 guarantees your seat in the entire course. Please note that we cannot issue refunds, since there's an overhead to issuing refunds via Meetup.com and we already offer the workshops at such a low cost. We put proceeds into the chapter fund, which we use as our scholarship fund.

Other Disclaimers: Our program and curriculum are geared toward adults over the age of 18; at this time we do not accept minors as students in our courses and workshops.

Quick question, I have 1-2 co-workers who are interested in taking an HTML & CSS class and I've had a great time with GDI classes. I'd like to recommend they take this one.

Would it be possible for them to sign up for the class? (They're dudes)

While our primary goal is to help and empower women to learn programming, we are definitely not exclusive and have men attend in the past! Feel free to pass along the class information and let us know if your co-workers have any questions!!!
