Intro to HTML & CSS

Details

This 4 part Intro to HTML/CSS course runs on Tuesday evenings: January 14th, January 21st, January 28th and February 4th. The class times go from 7:00pm to 9:00pm each evening.

Want to learn how to build your own website? Already have your own Tumblr/WordPress/etc site, but want to have more control over it? Interested in learning to program but want to start small? This class is for you!

We will guide you through the basics of HTML and CSS, give you some readily-applicable skills, and answer any questions you may have along the way.

Your Teacher: Autumn Welles, Front End Developer at Coalmarch (http://www.coalmarch.com/)

Autumn is a self-taught front-end developer. She takes designs and turns them into reality using HTML, CSS, Javascript, and whatever templating languages are handy. She began coding at the ripe age of thirteen and simply couldn't help but be awed by the process of creating something from nothing.

When not in front of a computer, Autumn can be found teaching her dog new tricks, drinking local beer, or enjoying the outdoors. She also enjoys watching 90's TV shows while crocheting when the weather is chilly. In the past, she has volunteered on farms from Washington state to Arizona and driven all across the United States (a few times over).

Tech Requirements:

Your laptop. Note: A netbook or tablet is NOT a substitute.

A modern browser with either Chrome (https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/browser/) and the "Web Developer (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/bfbameneiokkgbdmiekhjnmfkcnldhhm)" extension or Firefox (http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/) and Firebug (http://getfirebug.com/) installed.

A text editor. We recommend Sublime Text 2 (http://www.sublimetext.com/2) (It's free and available for both Mac and PC).
