Intro to Javascript Workshop

Details
JavaScript is the language of the web, and it's an increasingly powerful way to make your webapps interactive and dynamic. In this intensive TWO-day workshop, we'll cover programming basics in JavaScript and then delve into the fun stuff - manipulating webpages.
This class runs from 12pm-5pm both days. It includes lunch!
What to expect?
This workshop will cover beginning programming, the basics of JavaScript, how to use JavaScript to manipulate websites, and some basic developer tools and techniques to get you a head start on the road to becoming a great developer.
This class is an introductory course, and thus we will cover the basics of programming in the beginning. A class outline is available here (http://www.teaching-materials.org/javascript/). We will cover section 1-2 on Saturday, and 3-4 on Sunday.
Who is teaching?
This workshop will be taught by Liz Howard. Liz is a Teacher at Girl Develop It and a Professor at Hackbright Academy (http://www.hackbrightacademy.com). She's been coding for many years, and really loves to teach. If you're interested in helping out as a teaching assistant, please let us know.
How should I prep?
You should be familiar with HTML- you don't need to be an expert, but a solid understanding of what tags are, what attributes are, and how to manipulate HTML to get a result is needed to participate fully.
You will also need your own laptop to participate. If this is a problem, please contact us.
Make sure you have Google Chrome and Sublime Text 2 or Notepad++, or TextMate installed.
Thank you to Hackbright Academy (http://www.hackbrightacademy.com) for the great location!
If you'd like to attend but cannot afford the cost, please request a GDI scholarship (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dHRPTms0blNlTlo3cUpySFJENzBEdWc6MQ).
