Code & Coffee / Office Hours

Code & Coffee serves as a supplement to class curriculum for existing students and as an Open House for prospective students. Meet Girl Develop It Seattle's organizers, along with GDI instructors and volunteers at Uptown Espresso's South Lake Union Location on Sunday, June 1, from 10am to noon. You have the option to discuss material from class, work on side projects, or chat about coding questions in general. In the past, we have had several women in the industry come to network and share their experiences.

Have interest in Girl Develop It Seattle but not currently enrolled in a course? You're welcome to join us for this informal meeting!

Note: this is not a GDI course, just an informal discussion.

We hope to see you there!

Note: Power outlets are scarce at Uptown Espresso, so please come with a charged up battery if you are able to.

Hey everyone - Was so nice to see everyone today at code and coffee! I wanted to pass this resource along to you all as I did not know it exists until 6 months ago myself. DreamSpark.com is a website that - as a student of, I think anything, you can sign up for an account and then download full versions of MS Visual Studio, SQL Server, and other MS products. Don't be intimidated if you don't have a student ID - or the class you took was many months ago - I used the "manual validation" process with a PDF of a certificate from a class I had taken like 4 months earlier, and they approved it. Frankly I have to think a GDI class my qualify too - it's worth a try! Anyway, it's a great way to work with real tools, like you will on the job. Also, my last share: MicrosoftVirtualAcademy.com is also another great resource - it's free! And good training for MS products. I mentioned this to a few of you, and I thought I'd pass it along to everyone. Good luck and keep on learning ladies!
