Intro to WordPress (Part 1)

WordPress' popularity is due to being easy to use, free, open source, well supported and having a wide selection of plug-ins and themes. Users love WordPress because they don’t have to be developers to use it. WordPress sites can be as simple or as complex as you want them to be.
This class is for beginners wanting to learn about using WordPress as a framework and content management system for a blog or website. You can arrive knowing nothing about WordPress and will leave knowing how to start up, build and manage a site.
In this class you'll learn about:
• What is WordPress?
• What is the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org?
• Installing WordPress, and securing your WordPress site.
Note: You do not need to have an existing WordPress site in order to attend this class. If you already have a WordPress site, please attend the Part 2 class.
Pizza and refreshments will be provided.

Greg Davis has been a resident of Wilmington area since marrying his wife, Mary, 25 years ago. They met at Penn State and are the proud parents of 2 teenage children, one who is a freshman at Colorado State University and the second who is a junior at Concord High School.
Greg worked at DuPont for 20 of those years in their Information Systems organization as employee and later as a consultant. For the past 6 years he has been working at VWR International, currently as Director IS Application Development in Radnor, PA. He is leading 4 development teams (2 in US and 2 in Belgium).
Greg has been helping others establish their presence on the web with WordPress since 2009 when he helped a pastor setup his blog. He saw the power that WordPress has to empower individuals, non-profits, and small businesses so he setup his business, 38solutions, to help them.

Parking:
There is metered street parking (quarters only) around 1313 Innovation and it's free after 6:00pm and on weekends.
The recommended parking lot is Colonial Parking at 12th and Orange Streets. The entrance is on Orange Street. This lot is open from 7am - 9pm.
