Getting social with Yammer
Details
For our first formal get-together this year, we have Tanya Loh from Yammer (http://www.yammer.com), as our guest. We'll be establishing a Yammer network for us Girl-Geeks and Tanya will be talking about the network and it's uses.
Tanya leads a marketing team that aims to nurture, harness, and promote customer passion for Yammer. She has (what she thinks is) the coolest job ever: understanding and sharing how organizations and users can best use their enterprise social networks to get more done and feel more connected. She is passionate about learning how Yammer is meaningfully applied to serve businesses large and small, and to communicate its value and benefits through customer success stories.
Tanya brings over ten years of global experience working with diverse organizations across several industries, including entertainment, experience design, consumer products, non-profits, and higher education. She has an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a BA from Yale.
Tanya's Twitter ID is @tloh.
Here's our agenda for the evening:
6:30-7:00 Food and Drinks / sign up everyone on yammer
This part of the evening is being sponsored by the nab. They're providing nibbles & (non-alcoholic) drinks for us to start the evening off.
7pm - 7:30 Tanya from yammer
Tanya will talk us through yammer and how it can benefit a group like ours.
7:30 - 8:00 "3 things"
We'd like to get the networking juices flowing by talking about 3 things that each of us have to offer (skills, time, possible employment, physical things like spaces or tech & whatever else you can think of) and 3 things that each of us need (see things you can offer!). The point of this is to start developing some groups on yammer that we can set up and help us to connect with each other between meetups.
8:00 - 8:30 Yam Jam - get everyone on Yammer (there's iPhone apps etc)
Here we talk about the themes that have come out of the "3 things" exercise. We can talk about what's worked in the past when you're working with others, what your ways of networking are - what's been easy/difficult in the past. And then we'll work out how we can use Yammer to get ourselves connected.
Mark your calendars (this one's on a Thursday night, not the usual Wednesday night).
