What:
Join Amanda Lange (https://twitter.com/second_truth), Technical Evangelist at Microsoft, as she explores the world of interactive fiction gaming. We’ll explore some of the deep variety in interactive fiction games about action, mystery, horror and even romance. And then we’ll learn to write basic interactive stories with little or no computer coding, using the tools Twine (http://twinery.org/) and Inform 7 (http://inform7.com/). It’s Choose Your Own Adventure, and beyond: create anything you want, and output your own games as web pages you can easily share with friends and family!
It's hands on and fun! This event is BOYL - Bring your own laptop.
It is highly recommended that you download the software beforehand! Twine can be downloaded from www.twinery.org (http://www.twinery.org/) and Inform7 from www.inform7.com (http://www.inform7.com/). Please be advised that while Cipher Prime does have wireless, it's not always the best, so your best bet would be to download the software beforehand. Both programs work on Mac and PC, so bring whatever you have (tablets are not a substitute for a laptop).
Where:
Join us at Cipher Prime (http://www.cipherprime.com/) on Wednesday, March 26, from 6:00pm – 9:00pm. Space is limited to 25 attendees.
Food:
Dinner for all will be provided by Bloc.
Price:
To dissuade no-shows and help cover the costs of meetup.com we are now charging $5 for all large events (dinners). If you pay your yearly dues (also $5), this fee is waived! Just send us a message and let us know you paid your dues and want to attend. We'll take care of the rest.
About our sponsor:
Bloc (http://bloc.io/) offers online developer apprenticeships! Learn web, mobile, or front-end development under the guidance of a professional. Meetup members will save $100 off their enrollment with coupon code 'phillygeek'
