Girl Geek Dinners Philadelphia Message Board › Hacking the Gender Gap training this Saturday!
|A former member||
The Hacktory recently presented our workshop Hacking The Gender Gap at GGD and the response was really positive. If you are interested in being a presenter in the future, either for The Hacktory or for your own version, please join us for a facilitator training this Saturday, 2/16/2013, 1-3:30 pm at 3711 Market Street. We are keeping it small to make it easier for everyone to learn and practice (12 people total) and we're opening it up to GGD folks before the rest of the public. It's free and you are welcome to use what you learn any way you like, though of course we'd be super happy if you wanted to be on our roster of facilitators as the workshop gets more popular. This training is open to people of any gender.
Please sign up for a free ticket through Ticketleap just to make administration simpler for us:
Thanks, and hope to see some of you this weekend!

This is a related message from one of our organizers, Christalee, about other things at The Hacktory that might float your boat.
Thanks again for a wonderful group of geeks you brought to last week's event at the Hacktory. I wanted to pass on the link to the online Gender Gap timeline; it doesn't yet include the experiences from your session, but we're working on adding them in the next few weeks:
Also,, there was a fair amount of interest in the Hacktory and specifically our upcoming Open Hack and Soft Circuit Saturday events, so I wanted to make sure that info got passed on. Here's something easy to cut & paste:
* Open Hack/Project Night is every Thursday, 7-9pm. Bring a project, an idea, or your curiosity, and get acquainted with our new space, tools, and who's doing what at the Hacktory!
* Soft Circuit Saturday is every second Saturday of the month, 1-4pm. (Next one: Feb. 9/March 9) We've got a sewing machine, some conductive thread, and a pile of crafting supplies. Join us to explore the realm of circuits without wires.
The Hacktory is located at 3711 Market St. Both events are open to all; children are welcome if they are supervised by an adult.
