Welcome to Girlfriends NY – one of the newest Meetup groups dedicated to the ladies of New York City. This group is for the young (early-mid 20s), adventurous and classy NYC girl, especially those new to the city (or the States in general) from places as far as Asia and Europe! But even if you’re not a transplant, please feel free to join us and show us NYC!

What’s unique about our group is the collaborative approach we take. We encourage our members to take the initiative to organize events. So if you’re interested in wine, go ahead – schedule a wine tour! If you’ve been thinking of picking up knitting or crocheting for a while – organize a group to take classes together! Or if you love the outdoors – organize a trip to the Catskill Mountains, tennis lessons, or a sailing course. And if you’re one of those fashionistas – go on, let’s get together for a shopping trip or a tour of a fashion exhibition. You get the idea! Hopefully these are some of the events we’ll see popping up real soon.  This is also a great time for all of us to pick up new hobbies and meet fellow city girls. 

Apart from the above, we’ll also be regularly organizing brunches, afternoon teas and dinner parties. Another unique thing about our group is we try keep the group sizes small during our events so that we can really get to know one another. As much as possible, we’ll also try to have events at members’ homes: think cocktail sessions, movie nights in, and cupcake parties! Of course, we’ll also make sure to organize larger events like happy hours so that we can get to meet the other lovely ladies of Girlfriends NY!

Note: there is a $5.00 annual membership fee.  Please pay this fee as soon as possible, preferably once you have attended one meetup.  Inactive members or members who do not pay dues will be removed.  We prefer a small, cohesive and intimate community as opposed to a large group with members whom we've never ever met!
