Bit of a last minute thing but I plan on going into Yellowstone on Sunday if the weather is good to take some wildlife pictures. Figured I'd see if anyone would want to come along and do a hike as well.
I know some people were looking to go to Yellowstone a while back to see the sights. I don't plan on going to old faithful but we can stop and see the thermal features in mammoth and I want to go to the Lamar valley to take animal pictures. It's an hour drive to Yellowstone from Livingston and we will be in the park most of the day (so don't plan to hike and leave if unless you drive yourself) :)
There TONS of places to go hiking so I'd like to do that also. There are some good ones right in Mammoth. One I love is the Clagette Butte - Snow Pass Loop. It's 4.6 miles with 1,100 ft elevation gain. It goes by thermal features, though forests, up to the top of a mountain where you can overlook everything and past a small pond. Not sure what it's like this time of year but I also have a book full of other Yellowstone hikes if that doesn't work out.
I can fit 4 other people in my car and it wont cost anything to get into the park because I have a year pass. I'd suggest bringing lots of layers, food, water, a camera and bear spray if you have it :)
