Glasgow Road Cycling Meetup

Glasgow Road Cycling Meetup is funded by Free Wheel North a cycling development charity based in Glasgow. The cost to run the group is £12.50 per month which is £150.00 per year. Donations are appreciated as scarce funds can be re-diverted in to developing cycling in the community.

The group does not require a membership fee but donations are always welcomed. If you wish to donate then you can do so through Paypal here or funds can be given in person to ride organisers.

Glasgow Road Cycling Meetup has been set-up to provide road cycling to those in the Glasgow area. There is a need for a road cycling meetup to cater for those that either don't want to mountain bike nor take their cycling to serious that merits club. The group is open to anyone over the age of 16, if you are under that age then we recommend The Johnstone Jets.

Glasgow Road Cycling Meetup caters for all abilities with no one getting left behind. Riders should at least be able to keep an average speed of 15 mph and have a moderate level of fitness. However do not let this put you off, come  along and try it out and see how it goes.

We are not like a typical road cycling club, we are more layed back here. You wont find any  snobbery in this club due to your bike, ability, background or anything else.

Rides will take place on each Saturday of the month with the possibility of a midweek ride for those interested. The length of the rides would be on average about 50 miles with the option to cut it short. Rides will leave from the West End of Glasgow at 10:30 am outside the Botanic Gardens (check map). Routes will be planned in advance and posted here before the ride starts so please check in advance.

All are welcome to come along and there is no fee but please follow some common sense guidelines.

*Please bring food and water with you and tell someone where you are going and who with.
*Bring your mobile phone for emergency and some money as there may be a cake stop..yipeee.
*Rides are taken at the persons own risk and they are responsible for their own safety.
*Please make sure your bike is in good working order and you have proper clothing for cycling.

Just some common sense helps us safely along the way.

Glasgow Road Cycling Meetup is all for promoting cycling and taking part in cycling events like Pedal for Scotland, Etape Caledonia, Trossachs Ton and many others. Please check the calendar to see what rides are planned by Glasgow Road Cycling Meetup members.

Since this is a new meetup group and is not aimed at been run by one sole person help in running the meetup site and giving ideas are very welcome. Donations for running the group are welcome currently at 12.50 per month
