David Petrovich:

Public hearings are held in Congress in which the public voice and reason are excluded. Those who testify are representative of big industries who lobby to protect their own profits, while advocates of evidence-based solutions are not invited.

Unchallenged, the two, corporate owned political parties support and fund war for profit, torture, desecration of the environment for private profit, and a for-profit health care delivery system which boasts outrageous CEO and Executive compensation while denying life-essential care to its customers.

Two hundred years ago, our foreparents recognized the need to change with the times would happen again to others in the future. In Article Five, they wrote when old laws and institutions no longer work to make the people healthy, safe or happy, they must be replaced. The Constitution gives us not only the right but also the responsibility to create a new society better suited to the needs and aspirations & capacities of our people.

Occupiers in DC and major cities whose objectives are clearly defined (but not well publicized on mainstream TV or radio) are not throwing influence behind one corporate owned party or the other. They say the political and economic systems are broken, beyond repair. They say our government and economic system has been hijacked and now serves the economic interests of the 1%. They say they are done with tax dollars being used to fund wars of aggression or occupation to steal the natural resources of other peoples while life-essential services here at home are being slashed. They are done standing by as our air, water, and food supplies are poisoned by "permitted" anti-environmental and anti-human corporate practices. They are done with the whittling away of our constitutional rights by the moneyed interests. It's about raising public awareness and the 99% gaining class consciousness. It's about helping Dorothy realize just how powerful her ruby slippers could be.
