If you are serious about kiting, or just love to watch and take lots of pictures, you've come to the right Meetup!  We come from all walks of life and diverse cultures and ethnicities with one thing in common,

San Francisco is very rich in traditions; one of those traditions which is overlooked but never quite forgotten is Kite Flying.  The Kite was invented in ancient China several thousand years ago.  The strong Asian culture embedded in this City, the consistent foggy sea and bay breezes, the Hippie movement based in SF in the 1960s, and the old kite store located in Ghiradelli Square, "COME FLY A KITE", founded by Dinesh Bahadur back in the 1970s, are among the many factors which make San Francisco a natural fit for kiting and wind sports.

OUR MAIN GOAL as members of the kiting community is to ENCOURAGE KITING in the ENTIRE Bay Area and beyond! We emphasize traditional kite building and flying and represent everything from the Single Line kite which flies itself, Dual line "Stunt" or Sport Kiting, "Quad" or Revolution kites, as well as all forms of Power Kiting, e.g. Kiteboarding, Snow Kiting, Buggying, Landboarding ... in a word, EVERYTHING KITE.

We welcome you to help us create new Kite Meetups, though by associating and participating with us, you agree that we are not liable for any accidents!  We are simply a free service to introduce you to other kite enthusiasts, locations and festivals.  We recommend you get instruction, certification and Insurance from one of the Power Kiting organizations out there (PASA, IKA, etc.) if you are into all the different forms of Power Kiting.

Now, "GO FLY A KITE!!!"

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
