Do you want to explore all the hiking trails in the Research Triangle area and within a three-hour radius? Would you like some of the hikes to be dog-friendly? Are you interested in a group that hikes about 2.0 - 3.0 mph, taking time to take photos? This may be the group you've been looking for!

My goal is to host a hike almost every day. Volunteers will lead some hikes as well. Hikes will be anywhere from 2 - 10 miles. Beginners are welcome. Dog-friendly hikes are especially good for beginners, as dogs slow down the pace a bit. You do not need to bring a dog to attend the dog friendly hikes. Half the hikes will be shorter ones.

• Respect nature: No climbing trees.

• Respect historical sites: No trespassing signs should be respected.

• Respect me: If I ask you to stop doing something, please stop.

• Respect the group: no wandering away.

• Respect the group: think before you speak; if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all; don't use offensive languge; think about the consequences of your actions.

• NO KIDS UNDER 5 years old can attend for safety reasons. Although we like seeing families enjoying our events, there are dogs who are nervous or don't behave well around young kids.

Participation in any activity with the Go Take A Hike, Buddy group is at your own risk. To the fullest extent allowed by law, you waive any claims against, and agree to indemnify and hold harmless Go Take A Hike, Buddy Meetup group, it's organizers, affiliates, employees, officers, directors and contractors, from all claims of liability of every type (including court costs and legal fees) for injury or death to any person or for damage to property arising out of or relating to your participation as a member. This agreement applies to you and any other party who may accompany you in these endeavors.

If you do bring a dog, the group rules are as follows:

Your dog must have on a current RABIES TAG at all times, or you must have rabies certificate with you at all times. Most parks require this and you will be given a citation/fee if you can't show proof of current rabies vaccine to a ranger/other authority. We recommend that only dogs who are vaccinated (distemper/parvo and bordetella) and are free of internal & external parasites (fleas/ticks and intestinal worms) attend our events.

DOGS MUST STAY ON LEASH AT ALL TIMES!! Extend-a-leads (aka "flexi-leashes) are not allowed on our hikes and you must have your pet on a leash no longer than 6 feet Most parks require this.  They are not appropriate for group hikes.  They can get wrapped around people and/or dogs legs very easily and have caused pretty serious injuries.

Leave NO trace behind, so please clean up after your pet. Most parks require this and you will be given a citation/fee by a ranger/other authority. Many pathogens which infect people and dogs are spread through feces, so we must do our part to prevent infections.

Always abide by the posted park/venue rules .

Aggressive dogs (and people) and female dogs "in heat" are not permitted at our events. It is up to the discretion of the event host whether a dog (or person) is posing a safety threat to an individual or group. All hikers must listen to the commands of the event host, including a request to leave the event.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
