Join us for Author Jeff Mudgett
http://www.bloodstainsthebook.com/ who spoke to our group two years ago when his book Bloodstains came out. He spoke to our group at our outside venue at Balboa Park — and you guys asked for him back, so here he is — all the way from Vegas! He's a really great inspirational speaker and will be telling you how he made his self-published Kindle a best-seller and receives international media attention —
& now a movie deal!
His book, Bloodstains, is a shocking tale, based on a true story, of one man's spiritual journey to find his roots, only to discover his origins are what nightmares are made of when he finds that the monster, H.H. Holmes, Herman Mudgett, the Doctor of Death, The Devil in The White City, and proprietor of the Murder Castle, is his great great grandfather! The first "serial killer," from which the term was coined, H.H. Holmes is thought responsible for well over 200 murders — and also believed to be no other than Jack the Ripper! Step into the author's shoes as he tells about his research into his great, great grandfather's evil past that turns into an eerie fascination, then an obsession andfinally a struggle for his very survival as his inner demons are turned loose while he dances with the devil right up to the terrifying conclusion.
Jeff's book is a great read, and it will be available at the event. Bring pen & paper to write notes — Jeff has lots of great stuff to share! Only members of the group are invited to this event due to the need to keep this group below 30 due to Balboa Park rules. Know someone who wants to join us? Let them know how easy it is to join the group!!
"Well, so your dream is to sell a book? Let me explain today's literary world in order for you to become an overnight sensation in two years, just like me, including that Hollywood movie contract all authors dream about!"
As always, these author talks are free at this venue. We will be at this location until 10:10 and then move as a group to our sequestered location. After we move, we will not be available by cellphone (I will turn it off). You can reach me at[masked] — do not call asking for directions on how to get there — that's what Google is for (I'm horrible at directions). Print out your directions. Don't ask us to wait for you, we will have the phone on for the very short time we're walking. We meet at several locations, depending on the weather, so I can't post it beforehand (because I won't know). Just be on time, so exhausted from hearing excuses.
For those of you who are a second no-show, you will be removed from the list. If there is a waiting list, and you don't give 24-hour-notice, you will also be removed from the list.
Bring a beach towel to sit on, or better yet, a folding chair. Make sure to bring something to sit on, because if it's damp the ground could still be a little damp.
The best thing to do is >>BE ON TIME<<, for some of you that means getting there well beforehand. There will be difficulty finding parking, so the best thing to do is shoot for being there 30 minutes early, or it will all be for naught. The reward of being early is that you can get something to drink at the Fleet Center cafe before we head out.
HOW TO GET THERE: http://www.rhfleet.org/visit/directions Park in the back of the Fleet Center. Park in back of the Fleet Center for easy access. For a map of Balboa Park — here www.balboapark.org/sites/default/files/balboaparkmap.pdf Or go here http://www.balboapark.org/maps-old The Fleet Center is #11. Print out the map to bring with you. We will meet here at the fountain closest to the Fleet Center.
