Practice Run on the See Jane Run Half Marathon and 5K Course, Alameda

Today we will be meeting at Washington Park in Alameda to run on the actual race course. Anyone entered in the race is welcome to join us! This applies to 5K and Half Marathon Trainees.

In the days leading up to the race, you will want to take some time to visualize in your mind everything you'll be doing. What better way to get a heads up on your race than by experiencing the course first-hand? We will practice on the actual course today. The race follows a "lollipop" style route, with an out-and-back segment and a loop.

One aid station will be available on the course (approx mile 3 and also mile 10 near the bridge) and we will have a id at the start and finish point. But now is also a great time to test your back-up system (in case things go different than planned on race day). Wear the clothes you will wear on race day and practice with the fluids/fuel you plan to carry.

Time: 8:00 AM

Start: Washington Park in Alameda at the corner of 8th and Central

How far? Approx 13.1 or 3.1 (for the 5K) miles along the course. We will mark each mile with chalk and a Garmin. Our mile marks are not certified but are pretty accurate

Why? A practice run on the course can give you a real confidence boost! And, you should be prepared to cover the distance at this point in your training.

What to bring: We will provide water and electrolyte aid along the way but encourage you to "be independent" and have back-up. There are many reasons why, in a race situation, you may want to have some of your own stuff with you.

Congratulations to the 14 milers today. Great run!

I hope the 5K trainees got a better sense of the course and "racing' it.

Those who ran and cycled looked like they had fun. Thanks Leslie, for putting that together.

Just rode a route in Alameda. Due to the Mermaid Tri on the Harbor Bay side, we'll stick with doing a loop on Alameda Island. It will be mainly on not very busy city streets and some on the bike path (towards the end). It will be a flat, somewhat short (approx 10-11 mi) ride. There is certainly the option for folks to go longer if they want.

Also, I plan to ride both routes on Saturday, June 7 and will post more after I do that. Would have done this sooner but was just too busy last weekend and was out of town for a long Memorial Day weekend and am out of town all of this week.

BOW WOW will do a ride following the run. We'll aim to start at 9:30am. We'll leave from the same corner that the run starts. As I said on the Facebook post, we'll either do a loop around Alameda (about 11 mi) that is on the bike path at the beginning and then city streets. We can try to keep it to less busy streets if folks prefer. Or, we can do a loop that goes over to Bay Harbor Farm and is about 15 mi. This is bike path and street. It is all paved. I have to be done by 11am so I should be able to do either ride though may not be able to do coffee/snacks during or after (though Tricia may be able and willing to lead that part). Unless folks who plan to ride want to decide ahead of time, we can just see who shows up on Saturday and do a decide and ride (pick the route then). But, I'm fine if people want to weigh in here so we get an idea ahead of time of which route might be chosen.

I will plan to run with Lori and any other of you half marathon trainees as I know we have lots of the shorter distance support. Are you getting excited to run on the course itself? It's a great boost to the morale - Guaranteed!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
