In the Celtic world, the end of October and beginning of November mark the true end of summer and the actual beginning of the winter "season." We will create an outward spiral in our walk through the Golden Cemetery, and experience some of the Irish traditions which led to our Americanized version of Halloween. We will gather at 1:00pm and should be done walking by 2:30pm. You can, of course, leave early if you need to.

This walk will be a relaxed loop at a conversational pace through the historical Golden Cemetery grounds. The cemetery is a beautiful setting for our discussion of the ancient Irish traditions associated with this turning of the Celtic year. The walk leader has traveled extensively in Ireland, including a special "Samhain" tour, and will share practices associated with the Celtic New Year.

This walk will provide a fun, easy-going, communal and social on-foot experience to kick off your own "Celtic New Year." It's also a great way to meet other walking friends.

Mileage: 2-ish

Difficulty: Easy

Weather: Please come prepared with enough layers and/or waterproof gear in case we run into weather.

Restroom: None available.

Note: These walks are very informal and give us all unique opportunities to connect with one another, with ourselves and with our surroundings.

Best to you,

Saoirse Charis-Graves
