My son who is a Senior Systems Engineer for a large IT department just called with a new virus that is terrible.
If you receive an email that you are not expecting and it has an attachment (usually shows a paper clip by the date or subject line) DO NOT OPEN.  It has a virus that will infect and lock all of your files.  You then have to pay a large sum of money to get them unlocked ($300 or so) and it will unlock for a year.  Then you have to pay again in a year, etc.
Sometimes the subject may be, but not necessarily like: "you have voicemails", "you have an important invitation" - things like that.  He said again , if you are not expecting an email attachment DO NOT OPEN.  Call the person to verify they sent you something.
