Hello Dr. Ronnie & Annelies,

Dr. Ronnie, I’m noting this to you because I remember a posting you did to our OHA website Mailing List sometime within the last year using the word, “Speciesism.”  I had never heard the word before.  I thought you might like to know about this movie because the topic seems to be one of “Your” topics as well when you’ve spoken of “egocentrism” in your speech to the OHA group a year or so ago—in how the human species thinks it’s “at the TOP” --& so can do anything it pleases to other species.  You have condemned that attitude, since it causes much other hierarchical, patriarchal thinking that is having dire consequences for our planet & its creatures.

Now this documentary movie comes out, apparently expanding on that idea (non-egocentrism).

Annelies, even though I don’t think you’re in the area now, I thought you’d like to know about it since you & your family made the switch to vegetarianism/veganism for primarily ethical reasons, based on this “speciesism” principle.  You could get it on video later, of course.

·         We'll most likely wait outside the box office from 6:30-6:45 and go in as a group.

·         Speciesism: The Movie takes viewers on a sometimes funny, sometimes frightening adventure across the country, to expose the biggest secrets about modern factory farms, and to ask the biggest questions about the belief that our species is more important than the rest. You'll never look at animals the same way again. Especially humans.

Join director Mark Devries for the Orlando premiere of this historic documentary, and ask him anything you'd like at the Q&A afterwards!
