Gokyo Lake Trek

Gokyo Lake Trek is an alternative trek to the traditional Everest Base Camp trek. This trek only offers the beautiful views of the mountain peaks and the (Ngozumpa glacier in the Nepal Himalayas) but also provides an ample opportunity to see never eye –blinking view of the Mt. Everest. We can take a soaring view of the most popular mountains at the altitude of 8,000m such as Mt. Cho-Oyu, Mt. Everest, Mt Lhotse and Mt. Makalu which can clearly be seen from Gokyo Ri (5350m) just above the Gokyo Lake.

Less frequented than the Everest Base Camp route, the trek provides some adventurous high altitude trekking and a visit to the second largest glacier in the world (i.e. Ngozumpa glacier).

This trek starts from thirty five minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. Then after, the adventure really begins. The interaction among the Sherpa community adds beauty to this trek. Along with this trek we will pass Buddhist monasteries with the views of Everest and other world-famous white - towering mountains.

We will have rest in the village of Namche Bazar. After trekking to Gokyo Ri (5350m), we return back to Namche and Lukla for our journey back to Kathmandu.

One of the ever-remembering features of this trek is the view of tremendous ice ridge between the Mt. Choyou and the Mt. Gyanchung which are located in Khumbu region. This trek rally offers a great opportunity to hunch the amazing and ever-lasting nature views.

ACCOMODATION - our accommodation will be in a 3 Star hotels for 2 nights in Kathmandu and Mountain lodges along the trek route.

AGENDA

Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu airport and transfer to hotel.

Day 02: Fly to Lukla (2804m) to Phakding (2610m) / 3 hr trek / overnight stay at lodge.

Day 03: Phakding (2610m) to Namche Bazar (3441m) / 6hr trek / overnight at lodge.

Day 04: A day to acclimatise in Namche Bazar, overnight at lodge.

Day 05: Namche (3441m) to Thame (3800m) / 4hr trek / overnight at lodge.

Day 06: Thame (3800m) to Khumjung (3780 m) / 5hr trek / overnight at lodge.

Day 07: Khumjung (3780 m) to Dole (4040m) / 5hr trek / overnight at lodge.

Day 08: Dole (4040m) to Machhermo (4470m) / 4 ½hr trek / overnight at lodge.

Day 09: Machhermo (4470m) to Gokyo (4790m) / 5hr trek / overnight at lodge.

Day 10: Gokyo (4790m) to Gokyo Ri (5483m) / 5hr trek / retreat to Gokyo with overnight at lodge.

Day 11: Retreat to Dole (4040m) / 5hr trek / Overnight at lodge.

Day 12: Retreat to Namche (3441m) / 5hr trek / Overnight at lodge.

Day 13: Retreat to Lukla (2804) / 6hr trek / Overnight at lodge.

Day 14: Early morning flight to Kathmandu / Overnight at hotel.

Day 15: Transfer to airport for departure from Nepal.

Hike Ability: Difficult (Not for the faint hearted or those who suffer from vertigo) if you have not hiked above 2000m before then this trip may not be for you!

The cost of the event includes:

We only offer a refund if the trip has been cancelled or rescheduled, if members are unable to attend they should advertise their places on the message board for the specific event or contact those on the "Waiting List". *Alternatively i can transfer your payment to another trip that has been advertised by the Great Outdoor Adventurers.

*We do not “refund payments/transfer payments” (for an event you have booked and paid for) on the day of the event or after the event has taken place.
