Meeting Announcement: Programming in R

Dear Toronto R users,

I’m glad to announce the next Toronto R user’s group meeting. We have a very special speaker for this event:  John Fox will be presenting topics in Programming in R.  John is the Senator William McMaster Professor of Social Statistics in the Sociology Department at McMaster University.  He is an active contributor to R and he is a member of the R Foundation. He is author of many articles and books, including his most recent publication of R Companion to Applied Regression, Second Edition.

I’d also like to especially thank Professor Murtaza Haider for providing a fully equipped meeting room in the Ted Rogers School of Management at Ryerson University.

I think this is a very special opportunity not to miss. Hope to see you there!

The capacity for the room is 40, so we’ll have to prioritize in order of sign-up for the meeting. There is no charge for this meeting.

John Fox, who is a leading figure in statistics and who has contributed greatly to the spread of R, was an excellent choice for this talk aimed at encouraging effective programming and program development in R. I think the talk was presented in way that would benefit a broad range of people ranging from those who are just starting to program in R to those who are relatively experienced.
