GBH Annual Solstice Luncheon w/Speaker Kiril Sinkel "The Human Condition"

Details
This year we're holding our traditional Solstice gathering in December, rather than just after the calendar New Year. On December 12 at 12:30 pm, we will hold our annual Greater Boston Humanists SOLSTICE LUNCHEON celebrating the true reason for the holiday 'season': our Earth's tilt and the Solstice bringing lengthening days in the northern hemisphere!
We'll dine together, at the Humanist Hub in Harvard Square, Cambridge. The food will be catered from Andreas House of Pizza, with chicken shishkebab, rice and Greek salad, coffee, drinks and dessert, for $16 - bring exact change or a check to GBH. (A vegetarian dish option can be provided but you must let me know directly by email by Friday).
After lunch, we'll hear from our special speaker Kiril Sinkel, who will speak on "The Human Condition: How to live one's life in an indifferent universe," about the philosophy of John Kekes. Speaker Kiril Sinkel is on the board of the Philosophy Cafe and a regular moderator at its meetings. His interests are primarily at the intersection of philosophy and science and include philosophy of the mind, cosmology and the history of science and their impact on society and ethics. He is particularly interested in the foundations of a secular philosophy that is consistent with scientific understanding, while at the same time acknowledging and promoting human needs and values.
The event will last until approximately 3:30 pm. Free PARKING will be available in the Littauer Lot of Harvard University near the Science Center, from which The Hub is a walk across Harvard Yard and down JFK Street. (Enter the Dworkin Science Quadrangle from Oxford St. and proceed to the end of the road to the parking area near the Science Center behind Littauer Library. If nervous, leave a note in your dashboard that you are at the Humanist event at PBH.)
Please let us know if you're going to attend by RSVPing my email address and ALSO saying you are coming on MeetUp, so we will order the correct amount of food (and whether you need the vegetarian option).
Thanks, and Happy Humanist Holidays (don't miss other secular activities and options this holiday season, including the Hub's own programming every week)!
