Build Great No-Till, No-Dig Garden Beds with Sheet Mulching!
Details
Come learn a core permaculture technique!
Called Sheet Mulching by permaculturists, Weedless Gardening by author & organic gardener Lee Reich, and Lasagna Gardening by author Patricia Lanza, this technique creates gardens without the back-breaking work of digging or soil disruption of rototilling. Furthermore, sheet mulching can be done with readily available, inexpensive (or free) materials: cardboard, newspaper, animal manure, seaweed, rotting straw... Most importantly, this technique mimicking nature actually creates excellent soil!

We'll discuss the theory and benefits of sheet mulching, followed by some hands-on work. We will also take a look at beds that were created over the past couple of years to see how they are doing.
Come dressed for getting dirty... boots and gloves are wise and a bug hat if you have one, just in case. The work is NOT back-breaking, but we might work up a sweat! If you are unable to do the work part of it, you can definitely just watch.
There is a cost of $5-15 each, sliding scale, payable at the workshop.
Children are very welcome at this event, supervised by their participating adult. We can find ways for them to help as well!
