Let’s hike the Ignacio Valley Open Space Preserve
Details
Join us for a hike through the Marin County Ignacio Valley Open Space Preserve in Novato. The hike consists of 3 segments. The first two segments follow dry streambeds mostly in the shade. The last segment offers an open view of Big Rock Ridge.
Approximate Duration and Distance: It’s easy to participate in 1, 2, or 3 segments of this hike. Each segment ends back at the trailhead. First segment – one half hour; 0.6 miles. Second segment – 1 hour; 1.6 miles. Third segment – 1 hour; 2 miles.
Trailhead: End of Fairway Drive in Novato
Route: First segment – 200 feet of climbing on a 0.6 mile unnamed trail in a “tucked away” drainage (we’ll see the oldest largest alder trees in Novato). Second segment – 200 feet of climbing on a 1.6 mile unnamed trail to a small waterfall (probably dry). Third segment – 550 feet of steep climbing (1 up; 1 down) on an unnamed fire road to a fabulous view.
