Ring around the Redwoods
Details
Join us for a hike led by Michael Landram in the Marin County Indian Tree Open Space Preserve. This preserve contains the only coast redwood stands on public land in the Novato Watershed, including some first growth (never been cut).
Trailhead: Meet at the end of Vineyard Road where the road turns to dirt.
Route: There are several options along the way for those that wish to do a shorter hike. The complete hike is about 6.5 miles with an elevation gain of about 1,100 feet, but the grade on the trails is moderate and not too steep. It should take 4 1/4 hours to complete the entire hike. We’ll hike up the Big Trees Trail, across the Upper Meadow Trail, up the Deer Camp Fire Road (there are magnificent redwoods along this stretch), up the Deer Camp Trail, up the Big Trees Trail (we’ll take a short detour to “The Big Trees”), down the Indian Tree Fire Road, and along the Rebelo Lane Trail to the point of beginning trailhead.

Gear: Bring water, snack, sturdy footwear, and weather appropriate clothing.
Weather: Rain does not cancel. In fact, I really hope it rains ‘cause we need it!
See you there!
