Instead of having another raw pot luck gathering (we have some great ones here in Austin!) my idea is to create an atmosphere of focused learning on one particular aspect of living raw each month. This can include anything from a certain food group like nuts and seeds, superfoods like cacao, chia, green powders like spirulina and chlorella, sea veggies, (Ritamarie must be present for this one!) to green smoothies or juices to learning how to use certain kitchen utensils or equipment. We can enjoy recipe demonstrations from someone excited about their favorite recipe and watch movies concerning our theme of the month. I see this as a “Hands-on” and idea exchanging type of meetup where everyone can learn something new.
Since this is not a pot luck meet up, you will not be required to bring a dish unless you choose to do so. And, since this will be held during the dinner hour we will be providing brain food for all our brainstorming! What’s the perfect food for that? Green Smoothies!! We will have a variety of “All You Can Drink” sweet and savory green smoothies available for $8. Copies of the recipes will also be provided. Keeping the idea of education in mind we will have a quick demonstration, smoothie lesson before we move on to our subject of the month.
For those of you who have not experienced the wonders of drinking green smoothies I invite you to join us and soon you will discover the amazing power of these nutrient packed elixirs made from simple, organic fruits and leafy greens. In my opinion whether you are a newbie or a long time raw foodie, incorporating green smoothies into your diet is essential to vibrant health. Add them to your daily diet and you will begin to enjoy a stronger appetite for healthier, more alkaline foods.
