Group Meeting - Humanist Pastoral Care

Details

Our speaker for April's group meeting is David Savage, Head of Pastoral Support at the British Humanist Association.

David has been working with the BHA to promote the provision of humanist pastoral care in prisons and healthcare. He was the first non-religious person to complete the two-year Spiritual Care training course at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, London. The aim of this new initiative is to ensure that non-religious people have the same access to pastoral support as religious people and non-religious people have the same opportunities to provide it. He will give details of the training offered by the BHA to those interested in volunteering and describe what it is like to deliver this care to patients and prisoners.

For more information online, see Humanist Care (http://humanistcare.org.uk/) - the BHA's non-religious pastoral support network.
