Announcements And Contest

Jeff A.
Group Organizer
Lawrenceville, GA
One of our area Microsoft Technical Evangelists, Tara Walker, has shared some great info with us that I'd like to share with you.
First is the Southern Dev Lights Community Email Group. This will allow Tara and company to keep us up to date on Microsoft related happenings in our region. You can sign up at.
Next is a programming contest.
The contest is the Souther Dev Lights Community Windows 8 Programming Challenge. Long story short you need to publish an app in the Windows Store before Dec. 20 and register it at. Prizes are 1st Place: Occulus Rift virtual reality gaming rig (sweet!), 2nd Place: Dell Venue 8 Pro (also sweet!), and 3rd Place: $100 gift card. Super important: you can enter more than one app and if there are more than 25 entries, Tara can kick in extra prizes!
Be Developer Of The Week. If you are developing Windows Store apps, you could become the region's Developer Of The Week. If you are selected your app will be featured in the Atlanta Microsoft Store, plus some other nice perks. Let me know if you are interested in being nominated.
Next, we could host a day long DevUnleashed program on a Saturday this winter if enough people are interested. Microsoft kicks in some cash and prizes if we do, plus training materials and lab activities. If you want to see the available topics and details, check out. If you are interested, let me know which variation you would be interested in attending.
Don't forget the Microsoft Holiday Party on the 16th. Sign up at EventBrite.
