CITIZENS FOR SAFER RADIATION TECHNOLOGY
We need voter signatures for our question to investigate and regulate electromagnetic radiation and associated technologies to be placed on the 2016 ballot.
We are looking for people to sign petitions between September to mid-November! Please contact us or the organizer to help, and see timeline & proposed events.
To create an expert commission to investigate technology radiation exposures and related technology, addressing potential dangers with new standards, guidelines, labeling, proposed legislation, and moratoriums when human health and environmental safety is at risk.
Is radiation a risk in the USA?
Both the American Academy of Pediatrics and American Academy of Environmental Medicine recommend new electromagnetic radiation standards that will reduce exposure. Allowable electromagnetic radiation levels in the USA are among the highest in the world. Sources of exposure include power lines, smart utility meters, cellular towers and antennas, baby monitors, cell phones and wireless internet.
Recent studies of electromagnetic radiation exposure find substantial evidence of increased risk for childhood and adult leukemia, childhood and adult brain tumors, and increased risk of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and ALS. Similar research demonstrates links to infertility, autism, genetic damage, sleep problems, and headaches. Environmental research indicates damage to bees and other pollinators, plants, and animals.
How could associated technologies be a risk?
Cyber attacks on wireless utilities can lead to loss of heating or other utilities, or home thefts. Wireless cars are similarly vulnerable to hacking which could lead to loss of life. Integration of technology with life, whether Bi-Fi, internal microchips, or synthetic biology poses new safety questions relevant to the environmental and human health. Nuclear facilities are reaching the end of intended life spans. Extensive storage of data may pose the risk of data abuse or extensive energy usage. Attention needs to be given to limiting or designing technology to insure public safety.
Where can I get more information?
Reputable organizations, associations, and groups worried about the health risks of wireless and non-ionizing radiation can be found listed under the files with online links here. The Bioinitiative Working Group details non-ionizing research effects--see the Table of Contents or its Summary for the Public. Our brochure is current and well done, but more information can be found by scrolling through our Table of Contents (see key words EMF or electromagnetic).
How can I help if I do not wish to gather signatures?
Print and share our brochure--drop them off at doctor's offices, libraries, events. Show up to sign at one of our events (upcoming, not yet posted). Join our online group to show strength in numbers. Make a donation to the campaign (see below). Send information on organizations, groups, or individuals willing to provide support. Write a letter to the editor of your local paper about the campaign.
Suggest doctors, lawyers, scientists, legislators, and local celebrities contact us to help us build a (currently offline) list of supporters to make a local appeal for safety measures.
If you wish to donate to this ballot question campaign, checks may be written to Citizens for Safer Radiation Technology (CSRT)and must include name & address--and if equal to $200 or more, must also include occupation and employer--if these details are not included the donation must be donated elsewhere. The mailing address is listed on the brochure. Donations are needed to help with the campaign expenses such as gas, table rentals, some printing fees, possibly postage, and in some cases extensive time spent coordinating or gathering signatures--with donations we can do more.
Healing Earth Refuge does not normally receive donations, preferring pledges towards a specific goal. Goals of Healing Earth Refuge are discussed below, with the campaign above our current focus. If you live out of state and wish to act locally, search carefully for a good organization here, but please remember that you may still be able to network beneficially with Healing Earth Refuge if we share goals.
About Healing Earth Refuge:
Healing Earth Refuge is name of this site and group, but to support the above ballot question and the legislation a group including some of our members and named "Citizen's for Safer Radiation Technology" was formed to support the legislation. Healing Earth Refuge is currently focused on this ballot question campaign to insure safety for everyone.
Healing Earth Refuge aims to develop safe, healthy, healing private and public spaces, housing, and communities, creating and altering infrastructure, networks, and support systems as needed, and insuring systems and institutions are secondary to public safety and health. This is meant to help both the public at large and individuals with heightened sensitivities--a number of our members are offline due to computer sensitivities. We hope to connect with other organizations and individuals to effect change such as:
Development of safe spaces & safer, effective healing therapies (i.e. a "Healing Refuge").
Reducing pollution & chemical, allergen, electromagnetic, or other sensitivities and environmental illness.
Access to safe shelter, clean water, non-GMO food, clean air, and natural beauty--including protection of Mother Earth or nature.
Safe working conditions, decent jobs, and work-life balance.
Safe Spaces for EHS, Multiple Chemical, other EI Needs: Please contact if you know of safe spaces for individuals with environmental sensitivities. We seek public and private spaces for individuals with environmental illness (EI), and advocate for accessibility, seeking safe living spaces and supportive legislation. Our petition will be given to businesses and other organizations. If you wish to make a pledge donation to our effort to develop a safe "white zone" please contact the organizer.
Databank: We are collecting names of individuals with EHS in Massachusetts and nearby states to network and serve anonymous advocacy purposes.
Removal from this group would be based on interfering with the goals and aspirations of this group, including disrespectful behaviors, harassment, or misuse of group for sales. Joining this group means you accept the terms that you are responsible for yourself and your dependents. Membership can be revoked at any time for any reason, and misbehavior will be reported to Meetup.com.
Note from Organizer:
Someone I met in 2014 liked my idea for an EI community, and then began soliciting donations with the pronoun "we" as if I, Kirstin, was included and seeking developers along with requesting folks provide information & investment to her--it came across as if I were supporting this campaign. While it would be great to receive funding for a safe community, she acted alone in requesting donations. I did not get along with her nor wish to see her again, most especially as seemed oppositional and threatening. I had concerns regarding her honesty and mental health--she may be a victim , but it was hard to believe her statements that the cashiers at a coop in the Hilltowns, a place she'd never visited, were intentionally rude as part of a master plan against her, or that the trucks in front of my car a few minutes were intentionally slowing down her progress also as part of a master plan. It may be that she has changed or I have misunderstood, but I'm only interested in working with people who seem dependable and more interested in success than soliciting.
New members must be approved by the Organizer
