Heirloom Gardens Classes Message Board › New classes: Canning and Cooking
I wanted to pass along information about a couple of new classes we're offering this fall.
Our "Simple Canning Class" will cover a variety of easy water-bath canning methods, including:
Light Spaghetti Sauce (techniques for canning tomatoes and tomato products)
Lemon Cucumber Pickles (techniques for pickling vegetables)
Spiced Peach Jam (techniques for jams and jellies)
Participants will receive recipes for the items prepared in class and basic canning instructions. Class will also include information about canning equipment and food safety issues. Snacks of crackers, cheese, and home-canned items will be provided. Participants will receive a jar of each item prepared in class to take home. The cost for the class is $45.

We are still offering our backyard chicken and goat keeping classes through the fall and winter. As the weather cools down and the gardens go to sleep, we'll be posting more cooking classes. Stay tuned!
