You do want a bazillion dollars, right? Ember.js is the only front-end framework that will earn you this much skrill, and I'd like to show you why. We'll talk about all my favorite Ember features. The features that you either can't find elsewhere or are half-baked knockoffs in other frameworks. This is a business-tech talk, so we won't dive too much into implementation. We'll look at all the ways you can save time, money and sanity using a tool built with the right goals in mind. You'll walk away knowing how to make a bazillion dollars and either full of envy or proud to be an Emberite.
"High Performance WebSocket" by Wesley Hales
Adding a WebSocket service to an application is often misunderstood to be high performance by default, however there are many more considerations that must be made, both on the client and server, before the best performance can be achieved. Real-time technologies like SPDY, WebSocket, and soon HTTP 2.0 have their own sets of hurdles and anti-patterns to overcome and this talk will provide the checklist you need to fine tune your application’s real-time performance.
In this talk we’ll review where WebSockets fits in the spectrum of real-time technologies and then go over best practices for creating a secure, high performance, real-time application. We’ll review the following in detail:
• Using secure WebSocket (WSS) opposed to unsecure (WS)
• Polyfill performance
• WS subprotocols and different styles of interacting with WebSocket services
• Binary transmissions and optimizations
• Compression
Battery life and optimizing long lived sessions
