Diving Straight into AngularJS

Well, we’re back again. April was an extremely busy month for events around the city so we took that to focus on supporting those. We’re back in May with a VERY strong presenter: Matias Niemelä.

Matias Niemelä (@yearofmoo), a core developer on the Angular team, will be hosting the workshop. He currently works on ngAnimate and AngularDart. He also blogs at yearofmoo.com and has a passion for teaching web development.

Most of the Angular material out there spends a lot of time on the basics and getting started yet not much time is put into pulling data into your application from a remote API. Instead of going the basic route, let's focus on querying APIs and handling user interactivity and wiring an application together. Finally, let's top everything off with Animations and some wrapping things together into a mobile application. We'll be skipping the installation and directory structure and providing a starter project. Therefore, a small intro to Angular is a suggested pre-req, but you should be able to catch on quickly. (Node + NPM + Gulp are required to be installed).

Doors open: 6:30

If you are bringing a laptop to follow along:
Install NodeJS: http://nodejs.org/
Gulp: https://github.com/gulpjs/gulp

A great primer would be the Yeoman CodeLab:

Going through up to and including step 6 if you haven’t done any tutorials yet.

The animations discussion was a nice tangent - but maybe too many lights were left on and it was a bit difficult to see the screen.

      Thank you :)
I can't make it, but hopefully I'll catch the video on the YT channel.

Hello everyone! I have a quick question: will we be following the Todo example on codelab or going over something else?

    May 9

    • Matthew P.

We’ll be going over something else. The Codelab example is to get people up to speed and ensure that you have things installed already on your laptops.
