Drinks on us. HackerNest Tech Socials (http://hackernest.com/cities/) are a fun, relaxed way to connect with your local tech brethren. Atmosphere: chill, friendly, unpretentious, agenda-free (no sales pitch, yo), and brimming with UltraSmart(TM) people.

"Good news, everyone!"
• The Hack'N'Talk (http://hackntalk.com/) with the Ryerson Fashion Zone (http://fashionzone.ca/) this past weekend was a great success. Very nice.
• HN was invited to the Deputy Mayor's roundtable on technology to make recommendations on how the city can work to improve tech. We said Toronto needs:
-
a unified central directory for all things tech (e.g. HackerNest.com, totally shameless plug)
-
more tech incubators to help startups go from $0 to $50K in revenue
-
to stop "competing" vs. Kitchener-Waterloo; we're as close as San Francisco is to Mountain View - why be separate ecosystems?
-
more aggressive educational programs encouraging girls in middle/high schools to engage in STEM; for many, university is 'too late' as social and societal pressures have taken their toll
• We're invading Boston to speak at the US/Canada Mensa AG (http://ag2014.us.mensa.org/) and start a splinter cell there.
• We heard rumours that a couple that met at a Tech Social got married... is this you?! We need your HackerNestimonials - jobs gotten, friends made, partnerships created, etc. - to show sponsors so we can convince them to help us keep HN alive. Be a pal. Email tales of HN-related awesomeness to info@hackernest.com .
