Hacker News Seattle Meetup 4

Details

The fourth Hacker News Seattle Meetup will be Tuesday, November 1st at 6pm at the Bookr offices in downtown Fremont.

As always, the event is free, and there will be free pizza, beer, and refreshments. I'm super excited to introduce our speaker this month. I've been eagerly following the development of his book on Hacker News for almost a year. Our speaker is David Kadavy, author of Design for Hackers: Reverse Engineering Beauty. He'll giving part of his upcoming SWSX talk "White Space," followed by a Q&A session.

There are a couple companies that are critical in helping to make it possible to keep growing and running these events:

-Big thanks to Bookr for providing the venue this time around. They're a startup looking to disrupt the music ticketing space with a great product, good analytics, and a kickass Ruby dev team (and they're looking to hire). They also have a really cool space (and an awesome rooftop deck!).

-Thanks to Gist, who provides the only full view of your contacts from email, social networks, and other sources by creating rich business profiles that include the most news, status updates and work details.

-Rooster Park, who is sponsoring a second time! They're a small, engineering-driven consultancy and staffing firm, finding the right people and building great software for some of Seattle's best companies, from gigantic to garage.

-Thanks to EnergySavvy, who is making energy efficiency easier and more accessible for homeowners. They're looking to hire (http://www.energysavvy.com/jobs/) Python devs who want to work in a developer-friendly culture (http://www.energysavvy.com/jobs/culture/), deploy with one click, and contribute to open source projects.

-And I think everyone will want to thank Cloak, who helps keep you safe on public wifi networks, as they're buying the beer!

RSVP early, I'm expecting this event to sell out. If you RSVP and realize you can't make it, please unRSVP so someone else can get a spot!
