Hacker News Seattle Meetup 14

Howdy folks! It's time for the post-Halloween, pre-election, 14th edition of the Hacker News Seattle Meetup! Come by the Microsoft Accelerator space on MONDAY, November 5th (PLEASE NOTE THE DATE CHANGE) and om nom some food and gulp gulp tasty beer. Like last time we were at the Microsoft space, RSVPs will be required.

Our speaker this month is Tony Wright, serial entrepreneur and founder of a YC backed company called RescueTime. Tony recently caused a bit of a stir by moving to Silicon Valley for his newest company... only to move back to Seattle. He'll be talking about that experience and why he decided to keep his company in Seattle.

I'm also announcing a new email list I'm creating. I get a lot of requests to tell you guys about other meetups, events, product launches, etc. I don't forward them on because you joined this group to hear about the Hacker News meetup, not other events. But there's cool stuff happening that I want to tell you about... so if you want to hear about it, Go here to learn more and sign up!

Big thanks to our Premier Sponsor, Microsoft has just launched their new, free email service and they’re serious about making it the best in the world, and that starts with getting input from users like members of the Hacker News Seattle community. In addition to providing a few other surprises, they're responsible for improving the quality of food at the event!

That thanks extends over to the Microsoft Accelerator, home of the massively successful Kinect and Azure Accelerator. If you haven't heard of these, the Microsoft Accelerator is powered by TechStars and combines TechStars funding and mentorship with direct access to Microsoft engineering, business development and sales teams to help launch your business.

And thanks to the rest of the sponsors for month:

Thanks to Bit Titan, who migrates the world’s mailboxes, from individuals to the largest telecoms, in over 50 countries.

See you all on Monday, November 5th!

Food and drinks were excellent. Sorry I couldn't stay for the speaker, but the crowd was interesting.

Lots of fun! Delicious food this time around, and a great speaker! It's always nice to hear that Seattle has a good Start-Up community.
