Healthcare workers, technologists and designers unite! Hacking Health is a Canada-wide movement to improve healthcare by bringing together these groups to collaborate, learn from each other, and create better health technology. Our evening Café series brings in cool presenters and hosts information discussions. We will be holding a full weekend hackathon in the winter.

Location: McMaster University - Engineering TechETB 124. This is the new all-glass building (http://www.eng.mcmaster.ca/newbuilding/newbuilding.html) at the front of McMaster on Main St. If you're driving, consider parking in Lot I (https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?usp=sharing&mid=zbgDDc2yV99I.knKQnMxjMU-U).

Sarah Drew from Every1Games will show how autistic children can improve their health by creating video games. Sarah graduated from Brock University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in digital humanities. She has been working with the autism community for more than 10 years and has collaborated with multiple game studios, assisting with production and business development.

Every1Games helps participants explore the inside of the video game industry in a low-anxiety and collaborative learning environment. The program builds valuable life skills through individual and team-based game development, social learning activities and networking guidance. Autism is experienced differently by everyone, and Every1Games empowers each participant to define what their diagnosis means to them and what they want to achieve. Upon completing the program, learners are equipped to accomplish what they most desire: meaningful employment and independence. Every1Games also works with game developers to facilitate low-anxiety beta testing for video games.

Faysal Naji (far right) is a recent graduate from McMaster's MD program and currently undergoing a 5-year residency program in vascular surgery at McMaster. Faysal was part of the winning team Stent Trackr at the Hacking Health Windsor-Detroit in May 2015, the first cross-boarder Hackathon. Stent Trackr was awarded "Judge's Favorite" and "Project Most Likely to be Implemented".

Stent Trackr is an app geared towards cardiac patients with previous coronary (heart artery) intervention (i.e. stents) and used in elective settings i.e. clinic as well as emergency situations. The app aims to store and display stent information for patients as well as health care providers to see at a glance and solves the problem of having to carry a paper card with written information on stents which are often lost, ripped or unreadable.
