There was interest in our last meetup in a tour of the print and packaging facilities at the Austin American-Statesman. We have begun printing our editions in Hearst facilities in Houston and San Antonio, but we are still printing the New York Times and some other commercial print jobs for the next several months.
I'll give folks a general idea of how off-set printing works and provide a tour of the digital plate-making, presses and our packaging departments, which are pretty wild.
We'll start this meetup a little later (7:30 p.m.) in hopes of catching the New York Times run, but no promises.
Parking: Park in visitor or employee slots (but not PHOTO) on the east side of the building near the main lobby. You do not have to pay ... we won't tow you.
