Doesn't time fly? A year ago, some like-minded journalists and technologists thought it might be time to bring the global Hacks/Hackers phenomenon to Berlin and explore ways in which Germany is rebooting journalism.
One year on, we've nearly 500 people in the group and have held 10 great events with amazing speakers, projects and collaborations at each one.
Join us for our birthday special at Sourcefabric Berlin. Headlining will be Julius Tröger of the Berliner Morgenpost where his work focuses on multimedia and data. Creator of http://flugroutenradar.morgenpost.de, Julius has also built an explanatory interactive about the Berlin city government that (a finalist for the GEN Data Journalism Awards), and a news app that visualised 1.5 million votes in the city election, letting Berliners see the results in their own neighbourhoods.
Secondly, Samir Nassar from the Tactical Technology Collective will talk on digital security: how to protect yourself and your information online as a Journalist in the age of PRISM.
Plus we'll have cheap drinks and some other show-and-tells from the world of journalism innovation. Join us!
