Hacks/Hackers Berlin #27

Details

Dear Hacks & Hackers crowd,

after a summer break we're back! We'll meet at ZEIT ONLINE's newsroom.

We'll take a deep breeze of Stanford knowledge and spirit on Tuesday (6th of October). Our great lineup spend time at this University and will talk about their experiences and work:

Tran Ha (http://dschool.stanford.edu/bio/tran-ha/) (@tranosaurus (https://twitter.com/tranosaurus)) has the project lead for media experiments at the d.school at Stanford University. Tran has a ton of hands-on experience with using design thinking to change media organizations; she knows a lot about audience development and how to reach millennials. Tran used to run RedEye Chicago, worked at the Poynter Institute and with Reddit, and she was a fellow Knight Journalism Fellow at Stanford. She will talk about audience-centered design and how news organizations can use design thinking in small, practical ways as well as big ways to improve what they're doing.

Anh Hoà Truong (http://jsk.stanford.edu/fellows/class-of-2015/anh-hoa-truong/) (@AnhhoaTruong (https://twitter.com/AnhhoaTruong)), as well a former Knight Fellow at Stanford, is an innovative Media Producer and Science & Tech Journalist. He has a passion for emerging technologies and their potential uses in journalism. His topic on Tuesday: "Virtual Reality and Immersive Storytelling: Let's Make Them Real"

Our host ZEIT ONLINE has just relaunched and released two storytelling formats for mobile - cardstacks (find here an example (http://www.zeit.de/wissen/2015-09/mondfinsternis-supermond-blutmond-september-2015)) and storystreams (http://www.zeit.de/wirtschaft/diesel-skandal-volkswagen-abgase). Martin Kotynek (@martin_k (https://twitter.com/martin_k)), deputy editor-in-chief at ZEIT ONLINE and Knight Journalism Fellow '14 at Stanford will provide a look behind-the-scenes and will talk about how his newsroom team used design thinking to create something new.

As always, if you can help us find speakers, hosts or have a burning desire for a specific topic to be covered please contact us.

Kind regards,
Hacks/Hackers organising team.
