Encrypt Yourself!

Details

In light of the recent events questioning the safety and security of journalists, Hacks/Hackers DC’s next meetup will be on encryption and online security for journalists. After the event network with fellow members at Matchbox.

Some of the things we'll cover:

• Basic concepts of encryption:

• Why should journalists encrypt their data?

• What type of communications can and should be encrypted?

• How does this affect other forms of communications; email, text messaging, social media, browsing the Internet? What precautions should journalists take in these scenarios?
