I can contribute. I'm best at engine code but wouldn't mind doing some work on a cross-platform, open source gui. Might be fun to do something in html 5.

So I was poking around the Hawaii Government contracts site (http://hawaii.gov/spo2/) and saw an interesting thing or two, such as a contract with funds back to 2011 that have been contracted but not expended. I was wondering what other bits of data may be in there. Anyone interested in skimming this data, databasing it, and then mining a bit?

Would you all be interested in looking at enhancements to Honolulu Answers or any other Code for America project? You wouldn't have to start from scratch and there are quite a bit of projects to choose from. https://github.com/honolulu

For what it's worth, i'd be more interested in collaberating with a closed group to produce something of sufficient value to it's developers (as contrasted with to the universe in general) to make a major investment in time logical ... grin ... meaning something that produces wealth instead of something to do for fun. [My problem is I'm committed to developing "pure" Java applications, so my "group" may be as small as one.] glb

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
