Show and tell: Q&A with Fusion and The 19 Million Project

More than a dozen journalists from Fusion were recently in Rome, Italy for the 19 Million Project (http://the19millionproject.com/), a summit sponsored by Fusion and Univision involving journalists, coders, designers, digital strategists and human rights advocates who came together to draw attention to the refugee crisis consuming Europe.

The two-week event was part hackathon, part educational summit. Led by design thinking, 11 groups came up with innovative projects to assist in the refugee crisis.

Mariana Santos, the director of interactive and animation at Fusion, was the brains behind the summit, which brought together 148 people representing 27 countries. She, along with the other Fusion journalists who attended, will share their experience and the projects that came out of it.
